K4 Solutions Announces $25,000 Commitment to DC Middle School Students

Support will to go Higher Achievement, a nationally recognized academic program for middle schoolers from at-risk communities.

On November 4th, business and community leaders from across the region will come together at the Warner Theatre for the 8th annual Going Places Gala (www.goingplacesgaladc.com) benefiting Higher Achievement. K4 Solutions is leading the way this year and continuing their commitment to radical contribution practices with a top level sponsorship at this year’s event. K4 Founder and President, Sumi Krishnan, who serves on the DC Metro President’s Council, has also joined the Higher Achievement gala leadership committee–donating not only resources, but also time to support Higher Achievement and spread the word about the program’s mission.

“As a former mentor myself, I can say with confidence that if you are looking to get involved with one of the best nonprofit organizations making a difference in the region, support Higher Achievement,” Krishan said.

This year’s the annual event will celebrate Higher Achievement’s 40th anniversary and will honor Clark Construction Group and U.S. Representative John Lewis. Last year’s event raised a record-breaking $1.275 million for Higher Achievement scholars and attracted over 700 guests. Gala leadership is hoping to surpass last year’s fundraising total.

Serving on the event committee alongside Krishnan include Gala Chair, Mitchell N. Schear (Vornado) and gala co-chairs, Douglas Donatelli (First Potomac Realty Trust), Carlos Garcia (Eng Garcia Properties),  James Davis (Davis Construction), Bill McIntosh (Balfour Beatty Construction), Debra Lehman Smith (Lehman Smith McLeish, PLLC), and Ron Paul (EagleBank).

About Higher Achievement

www.higherachievement.org

Higher Achievement’s rigorous afterschool and summer academic program closes the opportunity gap for middle school youth in at-risk communities. It provides middle school scholars with a year-round learning environment, caring role models, and a culture of high expectations, resulting in college-bound scholars with the character, confidence, and skills to succeed.  As a result, 95% of Higher Achievement scholars graduate from high school on time.  In a city where 62 percent finish high school, these results are astounding – and desperately needed. Higher Achievement is creating lasting change in the lives of the DC Metro youth.
